Optimum Road Safety with Stirling Rear View Mirrors

Aerodynamic Motorised Heated Convex Rear View Mirror Aerodynamic Motorised Heated Convex Rear View Mirror - Class IIIStirling Accessories manufactures an extensive range of rear view mirrors for commercial motor vehicles, caravans and armoured vehicles; as well as trucks, trailers, buses and bakkies.

“For optimum safety on the roads and during the loading and unloading of materials, it is critical that the driver has clear vision, not only of what’s in front and behind the vehicle, but he also needs to be fully aware of what’s on either side,” says Keith Russon, CEO, Stirling Accessories. “Safety provided by rear view mirrors depends on the quality of materials used and standards implemented during manufacture, as well as correct installation and accurate adjustment of each mirror.”

The range of Stirling Accessories interior and side rear view mirrors, which is E-compliant and meets European specifications, also adheres to stringent SABS M and N standards for six Classes for rear view mirrors (1436 – 1994 specifications).

The company has made a substantial investment in the latest machinery and testing facilities and has a technical team committed to developing advances for design and safety. Every component is subjected to harsh impact, bending and vibration testing to ensure the unit is able to withstand the toughest operating conditions.

This range of rear view mirrors also adheres to the exact design specifications of vehicle manufacturers. These units are available in various sizes and shapes, including a streamlined option based on previous designs of vehicles, as well as a modern aerodynamic design for the latest vehicles.

An important component of these rear view mirrors is the use of high quality materials that include reflecting surface flat and convex glass with a shatterproof backing which enhances safety in the event of an accident. There is also a blind spot mirror option for greater visibility.

Mirrors with a plastic ABS back, with UV and heat resistance, are perfect for extended service life in harsh South African conditions. The unit will not distort, but maintains its shape and design in all environments.

Motorised rear view mirrors for heavy duty applications enable the driver to adjust the unit from inside the vehicle. A heat control facility eliminates mist for clear vision, enhancing safety.

For heavy duty truck and bus applications, where there can be as many as five rear view mirrors necessary, units from Classes II to VI are recommended. The glass has a 3mm thickness, with a shatterproof backing. Depending on the Class, these mirrors have an 1800mm radius (Classes II and III) or a 400mm radius (Classes IV – VI).

In the event of damage or breakage, the company offers the market the option of either replacing the mirror arm, the rear view mirror, or just the replacement mirror glass. The company also custom-designs and manufactures mirror arms to exact required specifications.

Stirling Accessories, which specialises in the manufacture and supply of a wide range of quality automotive components throughout Africa, marks over 60 years of business this year.

The full range of replacement parts includes mirrors and mirror arms, lamps and beacons, as well as electrical and general components. Reflectors, chevrons and warning triangles, as well as roof carriers and fishing rod racks are also available.

“Specialists in the manufacture and supply of quality automotive components”

Stirling Accessories, specialists in the manufacture and supply throughout Africa of a wide range of quality automotive components, marks over 60 years of business this year.

The company, which was established in Durban in the late 1940’s, continues to make a substantial investment to ensure its entire range of automotive accessories meets stringent quality and safety specifications. All Stirling components that require legal specifications, have been awarded SABS certification.

“One of the biggest challenges facing the automotive sector in South Africa today is the need to combat low quality imported components which are being readily accepted as ‘safe’ by the local market,” says Keith Russon, CEO, Stirling Accessories. “The reality is that these inferior replacement parts, which include low quality mirrors, lamps and reflectors, do not meet SABS quality and safety specifications.”

“It’s simple, the local market - including original equipment manufacturers, the specialist replacement sector and general commercial users - needs to be educated about which automotive components are safe to use and why it is worth spending a little bit extra to ensure optimum safety on our roads.”

SABS certification provides a basis on which the market is assured that control programmes at Stirling Accessories are maintained at the highest standards to meet stringent requirements laid down by the listing scheme. The company’s team of tool designers and internal research and development specialists continually improves efficiencies to keep abreast with world-class standards and trends.”

“Quality branding gives users the assurance that all Stirling products meet stringent standards in terms of materials, specifications and quality controls during manufacture. The promise of reliable back-up from a reputable supplier is also critical to market demand. Stirling Accessories has earned a reputation in the automotive industry as products to trust.”

The company, which relocated to new premises in Westmead, Durban, two years ago, has modernised its manufacturing facilities, with the introduction of eco-friendly processes and the latest technological advancements.

The full range of replacement parts includes mirrors and mirror arms, lamps and beacons, as well as electrical and general components. Reflectors, chevrons and warning triangles, as well as roof carriers and fishing rod racks are also available.

Stirling Accessories aligns itself with the broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) of the country and sees this commitment as an opportunity to work alongside some of the emerging dynamic leaders who are making a positive impact on the economy.

The company has been rated as a Level 2 contributor to B-BBEE according to the DTI’s ‘qualifying small enterprises (QSE) scorecard. What this means for Stirling, is customers can recognise 125% of their spend with the company towards their own preferential procurement spend in their B-BBEE scorecards.

Sales & Customer Executive
Dear Valued Customer,

Stirling Accessories would like to thank you for your continued support over the years.

Stirling Accessories is committed to offering you a superior quality product that conforms to all the respective safety standards and eco-friendly manufacturing, at an extremely competitive price.

In order to keep abreast of economic challenges, market trends and the sustainability of the business, Stirling Accessories is announcing a price increase, effective 1 November 2011.

Please note that this is not a blanket increase across all of our products, as the majority of the prices remain unchanged. In reviewing our pricing model, we discovered that a few of our product items were being sold at below cost, so the approach we have taken is to have a minimum increase on those products, while remaining competitively priced.

I will provide you with an updated pricelist during the first week of October, for the price increase that is effective 1st November 2011.

If you have any questions or queries relating to this, please contact me on the details below.

Thank you once again for your continued support and loyalty.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Ahmed Nagdee
